DESCRIPTION: Paintings, Unframed, Oil and Acrylic on Linen
ARTIST STATEMENT: These works begin as improvised free-form abstractions. Stains, scrapes and brushmarks are built up into a thick impasto surface, at which point the composition is reset by a stark white layer that frames a window revealing the underpainting beneath. Black forms, like shadows, create a sense of depth, while a red circle creates a focal point. A balance is achieved between loose, playful spontaneity and rigid, geometric minimalism.
