ARTIST STATEMENT: Month by month I walk an ancient footpath on the Aegean island of Kea, Greece, recording the flora I observe for Mapping the Walk, an archive of botanical drawings. I began this sustained, ten-year project in support of historic preservation of this ancient footpath and also for environmental concerns. Mapping the Walk is a springboard for my other recent studio work, inspiring a series of prints, cyanotypes, and mixed medial works in memory of the flora growing wild on this path since the ice age.
