ARTIST STATEMENT: Beauty in the light, color and patterns of nature provide endless subjects, changing by the hour and time of year. Whether it is a stark winter scene warmed by the glowing red light of dusk or looking up at birches converging in the sky, I love to interpret nature in my work. I capture images that catch my eye and transform them through paintings. Using photographs as a jumping off point, interpreting the scene requires a simplification of the shapes, forms and color.
