DESCRIPTION: Paintings, Unframed, Acrylic and water miscible oil on canvas
ARTIST STATEMENT: May 2021 I consider this recent work on a continuum with work from 2020 that included paintings with directional elements in the shape of letter forms, dominating the canvas. Gradually I became more interested in the smaller surrounding marks that supported the letter forms, and also in creating all- over compositions. I am consciously using a range of ground colors and compositional devices that are a nod to visual popular culture of 70's comics and graphics that were likely my first exposure.
