MEG ALEXANDER, Diploma 91
Star Magnolia (white on black) and Star Magnolia (white on white), Diptych
24 h x 20 w x 1.5 l
DESCRIPTION: archival ultrachrome inkjet print on paper, diptych, framed
STATEMENT: The two prints are framed separately but are intended to be seen together as a pair. Both images are created using the same altered base photograph of a star magnolia tree. The background and branches of the original photo were painted over with gaouche and then that image was scanned into a computer to create these two images. Alexander creates images and objects that are inspired by natural forms and systems. Her drawing projects are rooted in close looking at the objects or fields that are her subjects. Her work is characterized by a methodical, almost scientific, process.
