ARTIST STATEMENT: Monotype printmaking challenges me into a game of peek-a-boo with negative space. The paper, its own color and texture revealed, matters. I use the ink as a tonic, sometimes calm/ neutral, or boldly in front, as a gatekeeper. With minimal inflection or stroke, violet is in the eye's path. inviting one into the space beyond. From an ongoing series of monotypes, ÂSpringtime focuses on finding specific colors within the limits of Rose, or Violet.
