ARTIST STATEMENT: The works assembled traverse a spectrum of influence, but are of the same hand. They have been organized for the sale with three subjects in mind -- Emotional: Designed to be meditative and informed by geological strata, made of thick-impasto oil with a knife; Optical: inspired by pattern. While some works entail iconography, others exist like a unique fingerprint or fractal, made of flowing, glossy acrylic; Symbolic: distilled into simple yet varied forms, these works are about magnification and the building blocks of our reality, made of a thick, glossy encaustic or a clean, sharp gouache.
