DESCRIPTION: painting, unframed, depiction of one of my paintings imagined in the main room of Texas Gallery, located in Houston.
ARTIST STATEMENT: My representational paintings recreate scenes from my life, places where I've spent a considerable amount of time and want to memorialize. These include apartments and art studios where I've lived, painted, or taught. They are rendered in a kind of isometric perspective which removes them from reality in a way that references formalist abstraction. Within those representational spaces, I've created a context for myself to explore abstraction.
